Kirby Dach

Another Injury...

Kirby Dach now finds himself sidelined due to injury for the second time this season, posing questions about his future with the team heading into next season. While Dach's injuries aren't all linked to a singular lingering issue, he is now 25-years-old and has yet to play a full 82-game season in the NHL. Is he really injury-prone, or is he just one of the most unlucky players in the league?

The former third-overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft was acquired by Kent Hughes in 2022, in hopes that his injury history was behind him; unfortunately, it's only gotten worse. On top of this, he has yet to even eclipse 40 pts in any of his 7 NHL seasons. So is he really worth keeping around on a clogged Habs roster?

Does he fit into the lineup?

With University of Michigan star Michael Hage likely making the jump to the NHL next season and Kent Hughes reportedly looking to add another top-six forward, does Dach have a place on the roster? If the lineup ends up being something along the lines of: Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf (Acquisition) - Hage - Demidov

Newhook - Evans - Bolduc

Texier - Danault - Anderson

Kapanen (Assuming he is also involved in a trade) Where does Dach fit?

Being an RFA this offseason, it may be wise for the Habs to move his rights as part of a package for the top six forward they're looking for.

Has Kirby Dach played his last game as a Montreal Canadien?
